My first LAUNCH Conference

So for those who don’t follow me on Facebook or Twitter, I was at the LAUNCH Studio Showcase. It took place at the Innovation Birmingham Campus, near Aston University, and it had indie game developers from around the Midlands. It was the first time I attended one of these indie game developer meetups, aside from expos and the Windows Game Ambassador meetups, and such would be a good opportunity to meet some other indie developers, as well as a chance to show off my work.

Gamepopper on IndieDB!

Yes, that is correct! Gamepopper is officially listed as a company on IndieDB! Meaning I have one of these:

Gamepopper

At the moment there is not much content on there, but I will slowly add more things to there. I’ve also put up Secret of Escape on there as well, which you can access here:

Secret of Escape

Obviously, they either have no rank or a very low rank. This is why I want you and your friends to try and see how high we can get these rankings! So spread the word!!

Developer’s Accomplice

I’d like to recommend my followers to check out the following website:

Developers Accomplice Logo

Developer’s Accomplice is a great website to hear about some of the latest games from big names and indie companies.

They write game reviews and news article, and they have covered indie games such as Secret of Escape!

Link to the article will come soon, but for now, click the image to go to the site or go to www.developersaccomplice.co.uk/

The article for Secret of Escape is now online! https://www.developersaccomplice.co.uk/secret-of-escape-and-gamepopper/

BOOM: Fireworks Defence Unit is Online!

Yes everyone! BOOM: Fireworks Defence Unit is online on Newgrounds.com and you can play it now right here!

Go ahead and play, make sure you rate and/or review the game, all opinions will help improve the game. The Windows 8 release is currently through the submission process, so hopefully it will be on the store soon. The Windows Phone version is going to be delayed due to some technical issues with the port.

I’d also like to mention Sam Denvir, my artist for the game, he did a great job and you can follow his blog here.

Also, Lyserdigi, he made the music for the game, and he’s released the full versions of both tracks, which can be accessed here and here.

Hope you all enjoy!!

Blitz Open Day

Today, I returned from the Blitz Games Studio Open Day. Obviously because of confidentiality I can’t say much without getting into trouble, but there were a lot of talks about different aspects of the games industry, a tour around the company offices and a really interesting and useful Q&A session with staff members of the main professions (for me it was the programmers).

My Next Game

I’ve been looking at a few ideas I already have and I’ve decided on the game I’m going to make. So I announce the next game I’m making is:

Siegfried will be a fantasy/steampunk themed scrolling shooter. At the moment I’m going to make this game (or at least a prototype) in XNA and maybe transfer it over to another engine or make my own to make more features in it and bring it to other systems (e.g. Mac and Linux).

I’m currently trying to set some information down on what I want the game to be like and setting up the developing environment. I’ll also see about getting some temp artwork and tracks to test out everything.
