Happy New Years: End of 2013

I hope everyone will be celebrating the new years like I am, 2013 was a huge year with loads of news and events going on within each week. And with the year coming to a close, it’s time for me to look back to see how far Gamepopper has come in this last year. Continue reading

PuzzleScript: Make Puzzle Games in a Flash (…well HTML5 at least)

Hey everyone! Just thought you should try out PuzzleScript, it’s a neat little Puzzle Game HTML5 engine with a very easy to use scripting functionality with an editor and a debugger to help you make a neat puzzle game.

I found out about it on Reddit and a few of my friends tried it out, and after a few hours of playing around I came up with this: Power of Two

Try it out here, and have some fun making puzzle games!

GBJam Week is Over!

Yep, over 6 hours ago, the deadline passed. and Alex Earley posted up the current version of our game Star Runner! The game is in alpha stages, as it is a very ambitious project for us and unfortunately, not all of what we want to include couldn’t be done in the time we have. However, the team are still planning on continuing our work, so keep an eye out on the GBJam page for the most recent updates.

“The game will follow a galactic star hunter seeking to find the most precious energy source in entire universe, baby stars. These baby stars are called starlettes. They are an ancient race that form the bright burning suns of our worlds. In their infancy they must bond together in an ancient ritual to become a star. Our hero must decide will he help the starlettes to become a huge atom smashing machine of incandescent plasma? or will he use their ability to burn hydrogen into helium for his own selfish needs…

We really wanted to release by the deadline, but the project proved to be too ambitious for our personal lives. We plan on releasing future versions. Currently you can explore about half of our world. In future releases we plan on including music and FX, puzzles, NPC’s and a truly epic story. If you browse the source files you can get a preview of what a lot of that will be =D

Stay tuned!” – Alex Earley

BOOM: Fireworks Defence Unit is Online!

Yes everyone! BOOM: Fireworks Defence Unit is online on Newgrounds.com and you can play it now right here!

Go ahead and play, make sure you rate and/or review the game, all opinions will help improve the game. The Windows 8 release is currently through the submission process, so hopefully it will be on the store soon. The Windows Phone version is going to be delayed due to some technical issues with the port.

I’d also like to mention Sam Denvir, my artist for the game, he did a great job and you can follow his blog here.

Also, Lyserdigi, he made the music for the game, and he’s released the full versions of both tracks, which can be accessed here and here.

Hope you all enjoy!!

Game Of Life Updated!

Hey guys, I decided to make a quick update to my Game of Life game! It’s currently on the Windows 8 store, thanks to MonoGame for the easy porting process, and I’m currently working on a Windows version for none Windows 8 users.

As you can tell, I’ve simplified the interface, and the Windows 8 version also includes touch controls for drawing and buttons. The keyboard commands still work (Z, X, C and Space) as well as mouse controls.

I’ve also made it possible to change the orientation and resolution, and therefore, change the size of the grid as well. In the regular Windows version I’ll probably change this feature so you can resize the Window, since you aren’t forced into fullscreen.

New upload and stuffs

Hey peeps!

Just posted up a new application for anyone willing to try it out, you can navigate the “GAMES” page or you can click here to check it out.

I’ve also updated the games part of the menu to separate by year, so it’s easier to tell what are my more recent projects.

That and now I’m starting my second year, so along with my personal projects I’m gonna be working on university projects as well, fun for me!!

New Game (sort of): Game of Life

Hey everyone!

Game Of Life ScreenShot

Just thought I’d let you know two things. Biggest one is that made a little program in XNA for you guys to have fun with. It’s called Game Of Life, and it demonstrates the Behaviour System. In it you can draw simple pixel shapes and then let it behave. If you know any special shapes of Conway’s Game of Life (some are on the Wikipedia Page), those (or at least most) will work.

So download it from the page here and have fun!

I’ve also updated the download links as Mediafire doesn’t seem to store the data permanently.

EDIT: I’ve updated the game. The changes are:
– Fixed mouse pointer bugs that crashed the game on rare occasions.

– Added the ability to change the speed of the GoL in action. Just re-download the game and hopefully installation should be fine.
