Hiroshi Yamauchi (1927 – 2013)

As if the loss of a games company close to home is bad enough, now one of the most prominent men in the video games industry has passed away today.

10 Second Paper Flight (LD27) is Online!

Hey everyone! Great news, my entry for Ludum Dare 27 is online!

10 Second Paper Flight

10 Second Paper Flight is a toss game, your aim is to make a paper aeroplane fly for 10 seconds, however it isn’t easy with the wind being powerful, and the things that parks get in the way!

I built the game in Actionscript 3 using Adam Atomic’s Flixel Framework, with artwork in Photoshop, Music using Bu-Autotracker and SoundEffects using Bfxr. Considering it’s my first original game programmed in Flixel (no going through tutorials or dabbling about like I have done in Flixel for the last month), it’s impressive I was able to pull this off in 48 hours, with artwork AND sound done by me as well.

Check out the Ludum Dare page here.

Or play the game directly on Newgrounds!

EDIT: You can now check out a timelapse of the making of 10 Second Paper Flight below!

Make sure to vote and rate my game, as well as the many other brilliant entries that are online!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to vote on several game jam submissions!

Developer’s Accomplice

I’d like to recommend my followers to check out the following website:

Developers Accomplice Logo

Developer’s Accomplice is a great website to hear about some of the latest games from big names and indie companies.

They write game reviews and news article, and they have covered indie games such as Secret of Escape!

Link to the article will come soon, but for now, click the image to go to the site or go to www.developersaccomplice.co.uk/

The article for Secret of Escape is now online! https://www.developersaccomplice.co.uk/secret-of-escape-and-gamepopper/

Stafford Windows Games Jam

Stafford Windows Games Jam

Yes, you heard it. I am running a Games Jam for students at Staffordshire University, taking place on Stafford Campus. Students will be working solo or in teams to make fun and short games made for Windows platforms, and the two best games will win either a Windows Phone 8 or a Microsoft Kinect for Windows! Games will be made using easily available game development tools such as MonoGame, Unity, Construct2 and Game Maker Studio, or for the more tech savvy, can be made using pure code to run on Windows 8/Phone 8 via HTML5 or C#, and can use the free platform starter kit to get them going.

Information on the Jam is on the Official Facebook Events Page.
