My role as one of the Team17 programmers in what was known as the Project Services Team was to convert the game to function on various digital and console platforms whilst the game’s developer (OverBorder Studio) focused on the Steam release.
The conversion task varied from PC-specific platforms needing the Steam API replaced, to the console platforms requiring their UI to display the correct controller graphics, removing references to keyboard input, and features like achievements working correctly.
I also needed to debug both C++ and Blueprint scripts to ensure the game operated correctly on each platform, as well as run at an optimal framerate, which was quite a challenge for cloud-based platforms like Amazon Luna and Nintendo Switch.
